In Dubbelbock 2.0, we introduce the idea of a Work Item Stencil to help you quickly and easily create new work items.  When you're working on a project, you must have noticed that you create the same kind of work items again and again.  For example, for Team Project Xyz, you want create a new Task work item for a specific Area for a specific Iteration.  Before Dubbelbock TFS 2.0, you'd have to open VIsual Studio 2005, go to Team Explorer, expand the Team Project that you want, right-click Work Items, choose the Work Item Type that you want, drill into the Areas drop-down, and drill into the Iterations drop-down, then fill in all the fields.  This process can get irritating quickly when all you really want to do is create a quick work item and be done with it.

With Dubbelbock 2.0 you can define that work item type one time and then create new ones with all the values already pre-populated by right-clicking the Dubbelbock tray icon and choosing "Create Work Item From Stencil".

After choosing the Stencil that you want, Dubbelbock 2.0 will pop up the Work Item Editor control so that you can fill in all the other fields that you need.  Click Save and you're done.

Adding and editing Stencils is just as easy.  Right-click on the Dubbelbock tray icon and choose "Edit Work Item Stencils...".

You'll then be taken to the Stencil Chooser where you can click the "Create New" button to create a new Stencil or select an Stencil from the list and click "Edit" to modify an existing Stencil.

You'll then be on the Stencil Editor where you pick the Team Foundation Server, the Team Project, and Work Item Type that you'd like to create.  Give the Stencil a name and then choose all the work item fields that you'd like to auto-populate.  (Tip: if you just want to create an empty work item in a Team Project, you're not required to specify any pre-populated fields.)  Click Save and you've created a new Stencil.  The next time that you right-click on the Dubbelbock tray icon, your new Stencil name will appear in the "Create Work Item from Stencil" list.
