Title:
Lean Startup: How Development Looks Different When You’re Changing the World

Abstract:
How does development look different at a startup where learning (rather than working software) is our most important measure of progress?

Lean Startup is about creating from a BIG VISION, where we want to change the world and do something really significant. It’s a methodology developed by Eric Ries to combine Agile Development with Customer Development so that we can be disciplined about how we create our startups. Come learn the concepts behind Lean Startup and discover how development looks different when you’re creating things that nobody else done before.

Bio:
Abby Fichtner runs The Hacker Chick Blog and is Microsoft’s Developer Evangelist for Startups in New England. She’s been developing custom software applications professionally, wearing every hat imaginable, since 1994. Although, technically, she got her start at the age of 8 when her father brought home an Atari 800.

In the blur between Atari 800 and Microsoft, Abby worked for a number of startups herself, a little company called Oracle, and a boutique firm that helped teams develop better software with Agile & Lean practices. She’s particularly passionate about how we can develop better software and is extremely excited to be working with startups to help them create the next generation of software. You can read her thoughts on software, startups & ninjas at http://TheHackerChick.com.
